Estimated time required to make this costume:
A few hours-overnight

Difficulty level:
A bit more advanced - sewing definitely required

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
(Sewing not really required---but still not the easiest)

* LARGE Balloon
* Newspaper (torn into strips)
* Wheatpaste & water OR Pre-made paper mache mix
* Acrylic or tempera paints
* 2 Black marbles

* shorts
* blazer
* white button-up shirt
* white socks
* dress-up shoes

* James & the Giant Peach book or video

Instructions:
1) Rent/buy James & the Giant Peach video or book if not already owned.

2) Blow up balloon; dip paper strips in mixture & apply to balloon in 2-3 layers.
---Use picture on video or book to mold strips to James' face shape; mold in marbles for eyes.
---Let dry (can use hairdryer to hasten drying time).

3) Mix colors & paint face according to picture; let dry (can also use hairdryer here).

4) Pop balloon; cut out hole on bottom of finished head large enough to fit child's head through.
---Also cut inconspicuous air & sight holes (!)

5) Dress kid in clothes; place head on kid.

Other information to consider:
(Don't forget the airholes!!)
