What age group is this costume for?
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Estimated time required to make this costume:
1-2 hours
Difficulty level:
A bit more advanced - sewing definitely required
Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Black undershirt (mid-drift for girls)
White skirt or pants
Black shoes
Boot covers (knee length for girls, calf length for guys)
White mock turtleneck (to be altered into a jacket)
Long black gloves
Red felt or material
Instructions:
To make the jacket, cut the turtleneck so it's a little higher than the waistline of the pants or skirt. Make a "V" shape in the middle. Make sure to hem the bottom of the shirt where you cut so it doesn't look bad. Glue or sew on red "R" in the center of the turtleneck.
For the bootlets, you can either buy them at a costume shop or get a pattern. Get enough black material to wrap your child's leg comfortably and sew together in the back. Same goes for armlets. (On girls the bootlets should go up to the mid thigh or 2" below the skirt, and armlets should go up to mid upper arm.)
Other information to consider:
For added effect, James has shoulder length purple hair and Jesse has long red hair that stands off to the side and curls at the end. Also, you can make pokeballs; take a medium sized styrofoam ball and paint the top white, the bottom red, and put a black stripe in the middle.
