4 Star Costume Rating

What age group is this costume for?
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time required to make this costume:
Two to Three Hours

Difficulty level:
Almost as easy - some sewing

Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
*a black, long-sleeved dress (both)
*white shirt (both)
*gray sweater vest (both)
*gray slacks (male)
*gray skirt (female)
*knee socks (female)
*black shoes (both)
*black witch hat (both) Optional:
*black framed glasses
*red makeup for lightning scar
*books or a book bag
*a broom
*colored tie

Instructions:
1) Take black, long-sleeved dress and cut up the middle. You can either hem the edges or get some of the ironable tape to hold the edges together.

2) Cut the brim off of the witch hat.

3) Assemble! Put on the gray sweater vest and skirt/pants, knee socks (for a girl), shoes, the hat, and the robe.

4) Add the additional touches:

a) lightning bolt scar
b) black glasses
c) any other props

If you plan on using a tie, find a horizontally striped one in the colors of: red/gold (Gryffindor), green/silver (Slytherin), black/yellow (Hufflepuff), or blue/bronze (Ravenclaw).

Other information to consider:
I made this costume for a costume party, and it's very easy to make if you use the hem tape. It's also very realistic. If you don't have the time or the money to locate the gray sweater vests, skirts, or pants, then just jeans and a shirt worn under the robe would be sufficient. Good luck!
