Estimated time required to make this costume:
1 day
Difficulty level:
Quick and easy - no sewing required
Items you will need: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
large cardboard box
masking tape
pink, blue and black paint
ruler or straight edge
exacto knife or scissors
paint brush
OPTIONAL - pink material to make costume in two parts so you are able to sit down. Make sure material is same color pink as paint or as close to it as possible.
Pink pants or leotards and blue long sleeved shirt (for warmth) Clothing should match paint colors as close as possible.
Instructions:
Cut the shape of the eraser (rectangle) out of cardboard. Make it long enough to go from your neck to just below your thighs (as close to your knees as possible but keep in mind you will still need to walk!). Make it a bit thicker than your body (front to back) and as wide as you can handle (side to side). Make sure you have enough cardboard to go completely around you (one piece or several boxes taped together) Tape it together (hopefully only one seam)on the outside with the masking tape (so paint will stick to it) and on the inside as well (for durability...we don't want our eraser falling off us half way through the night do we?) Close only the end where your head would come out and then cut a hole big enough for your head to go through. Leave bottom open for legs and walking! Paint 2/3 of the eraser pink, and then draw a sloped line with the straight edge across the front and back. Attach the line on the sides. Paint that 1/3 blue (this is, in case you didn't know, is a pencil and pen eraser). With the black paint, paint in an eraser brand name (such as Pink Pearl) After the paint is dry, put the eraser on (head through the hole) and get an approximate idea where your arm holes should be so you can move your arms freely (you may want a second person to help you with this). Then when you are sure of where the holes should go, cut the arm holes out with an exacto knife.
Other information to consider:
Your arm holes should be high enough so that the costume doesn't rise up to your chin when you raise your arms.
You most likely will not be able to sit in this costume unless you make it in two parts and attach the two parts with the same color pink material at the bum level for sitting. Use stapels and then cover with tape so they don't scratch you.
