Expert/company advocating this approach (if applicable):
Allison Mack

Description of method:
Mack provides an illustrated guide for parents to read and show children exactly what behavior is expected regarding toilet habits, and the reasons for the behavior -- what Mack describes as an introduction to ôthe mysteries of the bathroom and his own body.ö Mack has produced a book that shows how the body processes food to make urine and feces; how adults use the bathroom; how the waste products are flushed away into a sewer system that processes them; and how waste eventually returns to the environment. This method seeks to secure the childÆs understanding and cooperation through intellectual engagement as well as practice of skills. For parents, Mack presents a detailed description of what constitutes physical, intellectual and emotional readiness for toilet training.

Recommended age for this method:
Approximately two years and up.

How long should it take for child to be potty trained by this method?
Mack doesn? give a timeline, instead urging parents to be relaxed about the process of toilet-learning.
