Expert/company advocating this approach (if applicable):
T. Berry Brazelton/Pampers Parenting Institute

Description of method:
A child-driven, relaxed approach that leaves the responsibility for training mostly up to the child and relies on the childĘs desire to learn. Brazelton urges parents to watch for signs that the toddler is physically, intellectually and emotionally ready to be trained before introducing him or her to the potty -- and then let the child decide when to use it (without parental pressure or recrimination for accidents).

Recommended age for this method:
Anywhere from two years up.

How long should it take for child to be potty trained by this method?
Varies considerably, depending on the child.
