Brief summary:
This book is the second in a series of adventures with Meg Murry, her little brother Charles Wallace and their friend Calvin O'Keefe, who were first introduced in A Wrinkle in Time. In this story, 6 year-old Charles Wallace falls ill, and teenagers Meg and Calvin go on a very unusual quest to save his life, earning something about what motivates people to think and act as they do, in the process.

The third book in the series is called "A Swiftly Tilting Planet," and the author has written other books about various friends and family members of the Murrys and O'Keefes.
