Plot:
In "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village," ten year olds Ash and Misty, and their older friend Brock meet Melanie, who tends to injured Pokemon in her secret cabin. Melanie's protector, Bulbasaur, a part reptile/part plant pokemon, gradually learns to trust Ash and winds up joining him on his journey.

In "Charmander - The Stray Pokemon," Ash and his friends rescue an abandoned Charmander, a reptile pokemon with a flame-lit tail, and nurse it back to health before confronting its selfish ex-owner.

In "Here Comes the Squirtle Squad," a gang of delinquent pokemon, the squirtle squad, is tricked by Ash's nemesis, Team Rocket, into capturing Ash and his friends and pokemon. When Ash exposes Team Rocket's treachery, the lead squirtle vanquishes the villains and joins Ash on his trip.
