Age group(s) for which this technique is helpful:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Primarily used to improve behavior:
Both At Home and At School

Instructions for using this technique:
Create a graph. On top is the month, on left are the days (by number), across the bottom are numbers 1 - 10. The 11th column is where to place list of medication(s) child is on. For number(s) 1 - 10, create a list of behaviors you consider a problem ranging in intensity (or by degree of behavior). At the end of each day, place a dot for the number you consider the child was that day, near the dot, place the length of time the child acted that way. EX: Mouthy - 1/2 hour. Attach a sentence or two on what happened or why. EX: Could not have own way.

Other information parents should consider before using this technique:
Keep in mind some behaviors are normal for any child. It is important to try and note length of behavior each day. This will help you see the behavior over-all, and also help the doctors decide on diagnosis, what to prescribe (if any) and whether it is working. This helps the parents view behavior over time, and try to establish pattern. This helps to see results of therapy, behavior and/or medication.
