Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Primarily used to improve behavior:
At School

Instructions for using this technique:
Those of us who have a child with this disorder know of the dreaded phone call during the school day - he's in trouble. One teacher purposely sat my son at the desk right in front of her. All distractions were behind him. They had a sign - she tapped her pencil on his desk. This told him to get back on task. He knew this was his free warning before getting sent out. She also used his restlessness to his and her advantage. He was the one sent to deliver a message, pick up supplies, etc. This gave him a channel for his high activity level and he always came back more relaxed. A half mug of coffee before school also helps. Also, ask the teacher to arrange for him to get another in the afternoon.

Other information parents should consider before using this technique:
Is the teacher willing to help and work with you? If not, demand another teacher.
