Age group(s) for which this technique is helpful:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Instructions for using this technique:
1) Create a place for everything. At home this would be the child's things--toys, books, clothes, etc., and specific places for play, sleep, and rest. At school this would be teaching how to organize papers and tools using dividers, pockets, wireless notebooks, etc.

2) Keep lists. At home make chore/activity charts and keep calendars. At school keep an agenda with every assignment recorded and then checked routinely by teachers and parents.

Other information parents should consider before using this technique:
Since ADHD appears to be an impulse disorder, all children should benefit. Technique should be implemented according to a child's age and abilities. So the child is not overwhelmed, only introduce one part of the technique at a time.
