Age group(s) for which this technique is helpful:
Elementary School

Primarily used to improve behavior:
Both At Home and At School

Instructions for using this technique:
The pokemon craze has become an incentive for my son's behavior. His school uses a colored card system for behavior (blue is a good day). If he gets ready for school with no problems, has a blue card for school, and does his homework afterwards, he earns a card. If he has 5 good days, he earns a special card, i.e. holographic, or Japanese card. A pack has 11 cards in it, so it's not real expensive. It's something he enjoys so he tries hard to improve "poor choices" with his behavior.

Other information parents should consider before using this technique:
We still use time out and losing "play time" for behavior that's unexceptable. We have tried the point system and charts and every other system the books say to use. This system is working for now and as he gets older it will have to modified to suit his age. But, as always, it's one day at a time.
