Age group(s) for which this technique is helpful:
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Primarily used to improve behavior:
Both At Home and At School

Instructions for using this technique:
Draw up a contract stating the chores and behavior expected, and the consequences, of what will happen, if the listed items are not met. Read the contract with your child, if you both agree, both of you sign it. You both get a copy, have your child hang it, where it is a daily reminder, and hang yours, where it is easy to grab. If your child breaks a rule in the contract, and argues the punishment, refer back to the contract. It is also a good idea to read over the contract, with your achild a few times a week to keep it fresh in their mind. It has worked quite well with my daughter.

Other information parents should consider before using this technique:
Remember each child is different, and the contract should be set with that in mind.
