Age group(s) for which this technique is helpful:
Middle School

Primarily used to improve behavior:
At Home

Instructions for using this technique:
Draw up a weekly behavioural chart with your child's behavioural issues virsus yours.

Example:
You get them breakfast - 1 tick
They eat it then and there no complaints - 1 tick

You get them to choose their clothes - 1 tick
They dress quickly and completely - 1 tick

And this continues for every activity you have problems with throughout the day. This shows the child how much you are actually having to do for them so that they appreciaten that you also have to do things for them, which isn't always clear to children until they are adults.

Whoever has the most ticks at the end of the day gets a simple treat of their choosing and likewise a bigger one at the end of the week.

My child chose playing football and riding in the park with his dad as his weekly treat, which goes to show... it doesn't have to cost anything to succeed. Even bedtimes are far easier now.

Other information parents should consider before using this technique:
If the child has a problem with the opposite parent or both, include them all in the chart. You can also take into account any behavioral stars they earn in school to bump up their scoures because this really does work. But bear in mind...no pressure, just competitiveness and encouragement.
