Age group(s) for which this technique is helpful:
Elementary School

Primarily used to improve behavior:
Both At Home and At School

Instructions for using this technique:
1-2-3 system of behavoir modification found in book by Thomas W. Phelan, Ph.D. Using a charting system, desirable and inappropriate behavoirs are clearly defined, eliminating the need for constant confrontation. Using the No-Talking and No Emotion rule, you chart your childs behavoir, and they are rewarded/penalized using a token and docking system. Once in place, this system virtually eliminates the power stuggle inevitable in all homes/classrooms with ADHD kids! I highly reccomend the book "1-2-3 Magic".

Other information parents should consider before using this technique:
You have to be consistent! Both parents (and teacher, if she's willing) need to use this system in order for it to be effective. If you "fall off the wagon", don't despair. Simply resume using the technique!
