Brief summary:
This is a slim, little book, but it covers such basic principles about children that it is life-changing to read. It is written by L. Ron Hubbard, American educator and philosopher. The book is non-religious. The book explains that if children are pulled and hauled and ordered about, they resent it, just as an adult would. And they'll pay you back by getting your floor muddy, interrupting your nap, and destroying the peace of your home. Treat children with respect and allow them to develop as self-determined individuals. At the same time, adults have rights and privileges, more rights than children. If they exercise these rights, children will see the benefit of growing up, Children will make this their goal. Children need lots of help in growing up and this book provides information on how to handle a child's mishaps and upsets, how to encourage the child to contribute to the family, and how to help the child grow up healthy and happy.
