Brief summary:
Changed by a Child will not provide parents with a solution for their disabled child's problems. It is not a parenting manual. Instead, it serves as a reassuring support vehicle to assist parents through the rough times. The book discusses a myriad of topics ranging from rage, empowerment, exhaustion, love, beauty, privacy, and more. Each subject is presented in short essay format from a personal point of view. I found the positive message presented as a result of everyday challenges to be extremely comforting. The book is not designed to "fix" a disabled child, but to help parents to cope with the unique needs of our very special children.
