Age of your child at time of loss: 4 8 10
What type of loss did your child experience? Loss of a loved one
Please briefly describe the loss and the emotions your child experienced.
My children lost their brother in a tragic event and had a lot of different issues from anger to shutting everyone out of their life.
How did you help your child deal with his or her emotions? How did you help your child regain a sense of normalcy?
I came up with a Dear God box that the kids could use to express how they felt and let God know just how they were feeling. It was a personal relationship between them and God in which they could allow their feelings to flow out. It's difficult to get children to talk about a tragic event that happened to them, so this was a way of them getting the feelings out of the heart and onto paper and to the Lord.
