What type of tragedy does this advice address:
Death
Terminal Illness and Disease
Acts of Violence

This advice is most appropriate for parents with children in...
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

How did you address those feelings and help your child deal with the tragedy?
Repress your feelings, forget about it, and get on with your life. Enough with this "talking about it" business. Repression is a normal and healthy coping method, and recent studies have shown that people who utilize this strategy for dealing with traumatic situations have far fewer negative side-effects (including PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) than people who cope in other ways, including the notable and muchly vaunted "talking about it" strategy.
