Description of reading game:
We've started a weekly poetry challenge. Everyone who's old enough has to find a poem to memorize each week, and recite it on Friday. You'd be surprised at how many sources of poetry you just may have lying around.

Other comments or suggestions:
The kids usually pick poems with funny stories or crazy words or rhymes. I figure there's time later to introduce them to "fine" works. They enjoy Lewis Carroll, Shel Silverstein, Ogden Nash and others. I let them recite them to the group anyway they like, acting it out, saying it really fast, which is acceptable as long as it's clear, to music, whatever. They like when they surprise or outdo the others at times. And I do it with them, figuring it will help keep my mind sharp.
