Newspaper, Scissors, Glue, Paper or a Scrap Book

Description of reading game:
Give each child one page of a newspaper. Get them to cut out as many words that begin with vowels from the page. Let them sort the words into words that begin with a, e, i, o, and u. Ask them to paste them in their scrap book/paper.

Letter and word recognition, vowel recognition

This word game would require superevision by an adult as it involves the use of scissors.

This game can be modified for recognition of other words like those that begin with a particular letter or sound.
