What subject(s) does this advice apply to?
Blending families
Easing emotional trauma
Easing the transition between two households

Describe the situation or problem.
My daughter cried all the time when she came back from visiting with dad. She said she missed her dad too much and that she wanted him back in our household.

What advice can you offer?
If you encounter the same situation, what you can do is tell your children you love them, and daddy loves them very much as well. Try not to get upset or frustrated. Try to understand that if this is hard for you, it is even harder for them. So, be patient, and never pin their behavior on their father or mother.

Please add any additional comments or suggestions.
It took me a while, because he wasn't helping much. But I tried to spend as much time as possible with them and show them how important they are to me and how much I love them.

This advice is most appropriate for parents with children in...
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
