Describe your Halloween celebration idea:
Many campgrounds provide special activities on the weekend nearest Halloween. For example, many Jellystone Parks have a competition to see who can decorate their site the best for Halloween. In the evening, children trick or treat around the campground, collecting candy and enjoying how other campers have decorated. There is also a Haunted House in one of the campground buildings and a costume contest.

What steps should be taken to organize this celebration?
Using a camping directory or the Internet, find a campground that has Halloween weekends.
Make reservations as early as possible, as these weekends tend to fill up quickly.
Plan with your family how you will decorate your site.
Remember to pack Halloween costumes and candy for trick or treaters.

Additional comments:
Great for the whole family - adults and older kids love to decorate their site and see the creativity of other campsites. Little ones love the fun atmosphere and being able to trick or treat in such a large area. It's really "something different."
The cost is estimated at $50+ because of camping fees. Private campgrounds are generally more expensive than state or national parks.
