Additional comments:
At the end of the parade, have a party, with giving the children Halloween treats to bring home.

Have some of the parents standing in line, with the children going single file passing the parents and putting goodies in their trick or treat bags.

Could also have a costume contest with the high school students picking out the winners in age catagories.

The parents could buy suitable prizes for the different age groups.

With the youngsters knowing what is at the end of the parade, they might be delighted in being in this private neighborhood parade.

No worry about going to strange houses to trick or treat, with the parents supervising the whole affair.
