Describe your Halloween celebration idea:
Everyone decorates their car trunks and gets together in one area. (We use the parking lot of a nearby church.) Children go trunk to trunk in their Halloween costumes to collect their treats. A small prize can be given for the best decorated trunk.

What steps should be taken to organize this celebration?
Make sure you have cleared the parking lot or other area with the proper authorities. Send invitations explaining the party. Make sure you have lots of treats! The younger kids are satified with just this celebration, but older kids tend to go door to door afterwards.

Additional comments:
This is a safe alternative to door to door trick-or-treating. You know the people your children are collecting treats from and they can't get run over by cars since they're all parked! Adults and teens can have a blast planning and decorating in a small space.
