Description of website:
SecretBuilders is a virtual world for children 6 - 14 years old with an emphasis on learning and creativity. Children live and play amongst characters and concepts from the arts and humanities: they do quests, publish artwork and writings, enter cool contests, and participate in a virtual economy designed to immerse kids in literature, the arts and the sciences. In SecretBuilders, children are encouraged to be creative - to build this virtual world with their ideas and activities.
Children are also encouraged to build a better REAL world through the "One For All" feature: here children raise funds for their schools or their favorite charities by simply answering math, English and logic questions. Each answer gives virtual money to the kids and REAL cash for their cause!
What parents love about SecretBuilders
1. "One For All" Program - Children answer questions and do activities to fundraise for their school
2. "Building SecretBuilders" - Creative Process Presentation showing children how SecretBuilders was built by our team of artists
3. Writing Features - Children publish their writings in our interactive magazine
4. Contests - Children take part in writing, art and photo contests for cash and toy prizes
5. Learning Themes - Children are immersed via activities and game play into themes and characters from the arts, humanities, math and sciences
SecretBuilders' unique focus on learning and creativity has given us access to a number of schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. This in turn has given us direct access to children, allowing SecretBuilders to quickly grow its base of registered users.
Our partners include leading non-profit organizations and corporations:
* Art in Action
* Stone Soup Magazine
* Monterey Bay Aquarium
* WGBH Boston
* Wild Planet Toy Company
* Music in Schools Today
* 826 Valencia
* Arbor Day Foundation
* Trees for the Future
SecretBuilders, in conjunction with its partners, is proud to offer four contests: the Kid Inventor Challenge, Help the Kelp, WGBH Photo Contest and Frank & Stein's Gallery. The contests offer great prizes including toys and cash, along with exposure on the SecretBuilders website. More exciting contests with great prizes will be added in the future.
