Description of tip for starting the college search:
It's so tempting for both parents and students to "cop an attitude" when starting the college search. It's so stressful for everyone! But take a deep breath and enjoy the process. At each step, think of it as time well spent with your student who will all too soon be gone!

Other comments or suggestions:
We socialized quite a bit throughout. In looking through materials or trying to work up a list of possible schools, we turned off the TV, sat at the table, fixed good food, and worked together.

Visiting schools was treated as a fun road trip - where's the nearest mall and what's for lunch? By the time it's all over (and it will eventually be over, I promise) you'll have made some fun memories.
