Description of this type of school/schooling method:
Consciousness-Based Education (CBE) is based on the fact that humans use only a small portion of their mental potential and that there is a simple method to develop it. Since the mind seems to be located in the brain, what has to be done is to improve the way the brain functions. This has been proven to be the result of the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique (TM). The TM technique is a very specific mental technique which improves brain functioning within and between the hemispheres. The documented results include improved ability to understand, recall, express, take tests; greater tolerance, happiness, energy; improved energy, sleep, etc.

Advantages:
The TM technique works 100% of the time, regardless of age, attitude, belief or state of health. Benefits come within a few days. It requires only the ability to think a thought. It is something that the student can do for themselves. There are no negative side-effects. This is one program (as opposed to a number of programs, each one designed to produce only one of the benefits) that reduces and eliminates stress, improves mental, emotional and physical health, improves educational abilty, behavior, tolerance, etc. It is something that the student can do no matter what school he is attending. It will last throughout his life and can go to a TM center anywhere in the world for followup, much of which is at no charge, etc.

Challenges:
Prejudice, which is the child of ignorance.

Tuition/Costs:
$2,500/year or less

Other comments regarding tuition/costs:
It costs $1200 per student one time. The benefits are so profound that when compared to the cost of not adding it to the school curriculum (or having students taught outside the school), the cost becomes irrelevant. Most cost-effective program for preventing drug and alcohol abuse, school violence and vandalism, school dropouts and more.
