Description:
Committee is responsible for developing and distributing a monthly or quarterly newsletter to parents and staff.

Duties:
Plan a newsletter format

Gather pertinent information

Write articles

Keep a calendar of events upon which to report

Copy and distribute newsletter.

Time needed:
At least several hours per newsletter. Time must be set aside for gathering and verifying information, typing and proofreading, having other proofread, and then copying and distributing.

Characteristics/skills needed:
Creativity--Ability to develop new and interesting ideas.
Dependability--Can be counted on to complete tasks.
Resourcefulness--Finds inventive ways to complete a project.

Helpful tools:
computer

Lifespan of committee:
August through June.

Personal benefits:
Most newsletter work can be accomplished at home. You will always be aware of school events and activities.

Involving the kids:
Kids are a great source of news and can help with content. They can also help with copying and distributing.

Other comments or suggestions:
Newsletters can involve many different jobs û just because you haven't discovered your writing ability yet doesn't mean you aren't a terrific editor or proofreader!
