Description:
This committee is responsible for advertising the school's events and programs. Publicity often serves a dual purpose û to advise parents of school news and events, and to share school activities with the community.

Duties:
Contact with newspaper and radio, verbally via phone or written via press releases.

Contact with school community via flyers.

Photograph events.

Time needed:
Dependent upon the number of school activities; may be several hours per event.

Characteristics/skills needed:
Creativity--Ability to develop new and interesting ideas.
Dependability--Can be counted on to complete tasks.

Helpful tools:
computer

copier

camera

Lifespan of committee:
August through June.

Personal benefits:
You will always know what is happening at school! You have the added benefit of contributing to a positive school image when events are publicized to the community. Most, if not all, publicity can be done from home.

Involving the kids:
Kids can help design flyers to go home in the bookbags.
