Description:
An evening for school families and staff that celebrates reading.

Duties:
Committee must decide on a theme and program for the evening. The evening must be publicized to insure attendance.

Time needed:
Committee may have several meetings to establish a theme and plan of work. Set-up and clean-up for the event may take several hours, depending upon activities planned.

Characteristics/skills needed:
Creativity--Ability to develop new and interesting ideas.
Dependability--Can be counted on to complete tasks.
Flexibility--Can work with all kinds of people and adjust to changes in a plan.
Organization--Can make a logical order out of many competing interests.

Lifespan of committee:
Short duration because the event only lasts one evening.

Personal benefits:
This volunteer job is of short duration û you've done your part and you're finished! You'll also get to meet many other parents during Family Reading Night.

Involving the kids:
Depends upon the activities planned for the evening.
