Description:
Depends upon the needs of the individual teacher, but in general, room parents provide support for large classroom projects, chaperone field trips, and are responsible for class parties, such as for Halloween and Valentines Day.

Duties:
Be available to help with class projects.
Chaperone field trips.
Plan and provide holiday parties.

Time needed:
This depends upon the needs of the individual teacher.

Characteristics/skills needed:
Creativity--Ability to develop new and interesting ideas.
Dependability--Can be counted on to complete tasks.
Organization--Can make a logical order out of many competing interests.

Lifespan of committee:
Throughout the school year.

Personal benefits:
For anyone that loves working with kids, this is the committee to serve on. It's a great way to get to know your child's teacher and classmates.

Involving the kids:
Kids are great at helping to plan parties or to do any pre-work that a large project may involve: cutting out materials, pasting, organizing.
