Time needed:
20 min.
Number of servings:
as many as you want
Description:
Put frozen waffles in toaster (four slice size toaster is excellent). Butter lightly, place precleaned strawberries, or frozen ones (thawed), on top. Top with ice cream and... VOILA! You have a grain, a fruit and a milk product. This came from the President Council on physical fitness during the 1970's. The article was titled, "Apple Pie for Breakfast? Why Not?" Any kind of berry or fruit, waffles or pancakes are acceptable. Strawberries are one of the champions of nutrition, along with cantaloupe. Try it! Your children will love it and be better fed for it.
Ingredients:
Waffles, fruit, ice cream, and a child to feed!
Other comments or suggestions:
Some people find that a banana milk shake is also a great breakfast. Bananas are rich in potassium, and the little sugar they get (compared to presweetened cereal) is minimal.
