This is my favorite casserole! It is definite comfort food! I like to serve it with green beans (straight from the can for sake of simplicity!) and French bread. It takes about 45 minutes to prepare but is well worth the effort!
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef 1/2 cup frozen chopped onion 3 tablespoons chili powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 can (8 ounce) tomato sauce 1 package (6 ounce) shell macaroni 1 pound grated cheddar cheese 1 can cream of mushroom soup
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375?. 2. Brown meat in skillet. 3. Add onions and cook till onions are limp. 4. Add chili powder, salt and tomato sauce. 5. Cover and steam 15 minutes. 6. While beef mixture is steaming, cook macaroni according to package directions. 7. Add cooked pasta to meat mixture and mix well. 8. Turn mixture into a greased 13? x 9? baking dish. Top first with grated cheese then with cream of mushroom soup. 9. Bake in 375? oven for 25-30 minutes. 10. Serve with green beans or a green salad and French bread.
