Describe this playground safety tip:
No piece of play equipment should have openings (such as spaces between rungs) between 3.5 and 9 inches. Kids love to climb through openings, either head first or feet first. Entrapment may occur when a child can't withdraw his or her head because an opening is too small.

Other comments or suggestions:
It's crucial to explain to your kids that they need to be careful when playing on playground equipment and climbing through small spaces. We can't watch our kids all the time, and encouraging them to become aware of potentially dangerous situations can't hurt!
