4 Star Dog Breed Rating

Size range:
Extra Small: Up to 10 inches; up to 15 pounds.

Kid-tolerance scale:
Excellent

Average lifespan:
15 years

Overall behavior of breed:
Definitely a toy breed. Stubborn but so adorable. Love to play with anything and anyone.

Explain why this breed was good/not good with your kids:
Our weiner dog is wonderful with all ages of children. Because of the long back, children have to be careful picking her up. She loves to be cuddled, held and "babied," but she also loves to play. A great companion for older children.

Typical colors:
Black and Tan
Red
Chocolate and Tan

Does this breed shed?
Yes

Special grooming needs:
Sheds very little. Bath once a month. Watch the toenails.

Daily exercise requirements:
A walk is nice, but only in nice weather, and it does help wear down the toenails.

Other comments or suggestions
Be careful of their backs. This is our 2nd dackie and has the most incredible temperment. Please contact a reputable breeder with either the AKC or the CKC.
