Medium: 20-30 inches; 25-45 pounds.

Very Good

Average lifespan:
12 years

Overall behavior of breed:
Long-haired are less snippy than short- or wire-haired. Active, loving and opinionated, these are great dogs. Better with kids out of toddler age.

Explain why this breed was good/not good with your kids:
They love to fetch, play frisbee, play in the water, play tag, run alongside the bikes, play hide and go seek, participate in obstacle courses AND cuddle.

Typical colors:
Red, black and tan are the two most common.

Does this breed shed?
Yes

Special grooming needs:
Brush regularly (long-hair).
Short-hair shed very little.

Daily exercise requirements:
A walk is nice, but can be a couch puppy.

Other comments or suggestions
Careful with jumping and overweight because of strain on the very long back.
