Beagles specialize in hunting on land, but have also been used to catch fish. They are clean and affectionate dogs that are active and playful. They are popular with families, friendly to children as well as other animals. They can adapt to city or country life.

Socialization and obedience training should start at an early age to prevent excessive barking or howlin and digging in the yard. Keep your beagle on a leash, their hunting instincts encourage them to follow scents.
