Size range:
Extra Large: 40 inches and up; 65 pounds and up.

Kid-tolerance scale:
Excellent

Average lifespan:
8-12 years

Overall behavior of breed:
very mellow and calm, loyal, loving

Explain why this breed was good/not good with your kids:
Our mastif is very gentle. He puts up with anything from our two year old including being near his food, climbing on his back, pulling on his lip to take a close look at his teeth..etc. At first it made me really nervous because he's so big, but he's so calm, nothing gets a rise out of him.

Typical colors:
red fawn, fawn, brindle

Does this breed shed?
Yes

Special grooming needs:
None, he's short hair

Daily exercise requirements:
Short walks as they tire easily. Low energy dog.

Other comments or suggestions
As with any breed I would recommend train as their sheer size can make them difficult to control.
