Small: 10-20 inches; 15-30 pounds.

Kid-tolerance scale:
Excellent
Very Good

Average lifespan:
10-12 years

Overall behavior of breed:
Sweet, loving, cuddly, even-tempered, extremely loyal. They love to play, love to cuddle, love to be with humans. They're very gentle and not yappy or overly excitable.

Explain why this breed was good/not good with your kids:
They are small (10 - 12 inches high) and gentle, very affectionate, and incredibly smart. They learn fast and want to please, so even young kids can give them commands. They enjoy playing all kinds of games like chase and fetch, but love sitting quietly for some cuddle time just as much. My kids love our Cresteds!

Typical colors:
Any colors.

Does this breed shed?
No

Special grooming needs:
Bath when dirty, depends on how much time they spend outside. Hairless needs minimal combing, Powderpuff needs daily combing. Hairless should have a sweater in cold weather or be kept indoors, and sunscreen in the summer if they'll be outside a lot. They can be allowed to grow hair naturally or get a trim every month or so, but the trim is NOT required.

Daily exercise requirements:
Fantastic indoor dogs due to their small size. They don't need to be walked, and all exercise can be done inside by simply playing with toys or family members.

Other comments or suggestions
Do NOT keep this breed outside for more than playtime. They cannot survive outdoors! This is an inside dog that loves to play outside, but not be left alone out in the weather. They are incredibly agile dogs and can learn really neat tricks very quickly. I'm a Chinese Crested breeder from Washington State.
