3 Star Dog Breed Rating

Size range:
Medium: 20-30 inches; 25-45 pounds.

Kid-tolerance scale:
Excellent

Average lifespan:
?

Overall behavior of breed:
They are VERY, VERY good with kids. Medium sized dog. VERY good watch dog. Protects the family. Learns very fast.

Explain why this breed was good/not good with your kids:
Very gentle, doesn't jump all over the little ones like most typical labs do. Ours just sits there and lets them pet her, and she's not even a year old.

Typical colors:
It depends on the mom and dad's color. Her mom was a reddish tan color and the dad was a black lab and she turned out to be a mixture of both. Her brother took after his mom and the other brother took after the dad.

Does this breed shed?
Yes

Special grooming needs:
Their hair gets thicker in the winter and they'll start to shed close to summer. They're not as thick haired as the chow.

Other comments or suggestions
They're really smart. Mine gets on to the horses when they misbehave in their pen, she'll run over there and bark and the horses stop! The man we gave her brother to is also the same way. He came outside one morning and didn't pet him and the dog barked at the man until he petted him! All dogs have their own personalities but this perticular breed is unique!
