Cost:
Cost of paper, construction paper, and yarn.

Description:
This is the gift of student participation. Teachers will be thrilled to receive a homemade book from their class entitled "This year I learned à"

Preparation:
Arrange with the art teacher to let parent volunteers work with each class during one day prior to Teacher Appreciation Week. Arrange for
parent(s) to be in the assigned art class to facilitate each student's work of art. Provide each student with a blank sheet of paper. The students are to head their paper with the words, "This year I learned ? Instruct them to draw and/or write about something they learned from their current classroom teacher. After collecting the pages, parents make a construction paper cover and backing, punch holes, and then tie together with yarn to make a "book" for the teacher.

Other comments or suggestions:
Be prepared for students who are absent. Make sure these students are taken aside when they return to make their pages for the book.

Students will need different amounts of help depending on the grade. Kindergartners may need someone to actually write the words while they simply draw the picture.
