Cost:
Depends on what you decide to do, on the size of the room, and on the availability of donations.

Description:
We all need a refuge from our hectic schedules. A lounge is meant to be a quiet, comfortable place for teachers to take a break from their teaching schedule. Often, it is last on the list in the way of having comfortable furniture and pretty decor. You can easily help make your schoolĘs teachersĘ lounge one that inspires teachers while they take a break.

Preparation:
Discuss your intent with the principal and get his/her preliminary approval. If there? anyone else from whom you need to get approval, be sure to contact him or her. Tell the teachers what you want to do. Explain that although it? difficult to please all people, you?l do your best, and they can help. Solicit any themes or decorating ideas from them. Once you decide how you want the room to look, discuss the plan one more time with the principal. After receiving the go ahead, agree on three separate times when a group could have access to the lounge after working hours. A suggestion might be a weekday evening or a Sunday afternoon. Formally or informally, ask parents to complete a survey, prioritizing which of the three times they could help clean, mask, paint, move furniture, etc. With this information you can get the maximum number of people to help on two separate days/evenings.

Buy the materials.

Tell volunteers when and where to come and help.

Provide working music on the day of the redecorating.

Let the fun begin!

Be responsible and be sure to clean up.

Informally ask the principal and teachers what they think of the new look.

Thank your volunteer parents.

Other comments or suggestions:
Solicit local businesses to make a monetary donation to cover the cost of purchasing used furniture.
Parent volunteers should be reimbursed the cost of the painting materials used in the redecoration.
