Cost:
The cost of coupons from a professional car wash; check first for possible donations.

Description:
For a small faculty, or a school with lots of volunteers, organize a car wash while school is in session.

Preparation:
Set a date for the car wash.

Call as many volunteers as possible, asking them to bring car wash supplies such as a bucket, sponges, dish soap, and rags.

Put a note in each mailbox telling interested teachers to put their car keys in their mailbox the morning of the car wash. Have a sign up sheet waiting in a central location.

Set up a car wash station by the most convenient water spigot. Ask the principal for the use of the school hoses.

Divide volunteers into groups ? someone to pick up keys and bring cars around, a washing crew, a drying crew, and someone to re-park cars and return keys.

Use the sign up sheet as a master list of which cars have been washed and returned.

Other comments or suggestions:
Should the task of washing the cars of an entire faculty prove to be overwhelming, try one of these alternatives:

Raffle off a car wash to just ten teachers with the cars to be washed by volunteers.

Raffle off several coupons from a local professional car wash.
