Cost:
$5-$15 depending on choice of flowers
Description:
Last year I left a single sweetheart rose for ALL of my son's teachers with a note saying, "Thank you for teaching me" and his name tied to the stem with a ribbon. I made sure that his classroom teacher had a couple of flowers and that all the specialty areas were recognized as well (Art, Music, Library, etc.). It was very much appreciated by all of his teachers (especially the teachers often overlooked like the specialty area teachers). The roses found their way to everyone's desk so they could be a reminder of our appreciation all week long. This could easily be done with any flowers and fairly quickly too.
Preparation:
You need flowers of your choice, ribbon to coordinate and slips of paper with your note. The notes can be done on the computer if you wish, cut into strips and your child can sign them (if appropriate or just include their name.) To assure that the roses I used lasted until they arrived at school, I used the tried and true method out mothers used...the old wet paper towel wrapped in foil at the end of the stem.
Other comments or suggestions:
If you know your teacher has an allergy, make paper flowers from tissue paper and pipe cleaners instead. Or, have your child draw a picture of a flower, make a card with flower seeds inside, or use cookies decorated like flowers.
