3 Star Idea Rating

Cost:
depends on level of appreciation

Description:
As a veteran teacher, I have all the mugs, fake apples, and cutsie classroom things I may ever need, plus the school provides supplies. Day care costs $500-$700 a month per child for unstructured group supervision. Show your child's teacher they are more than a babysitter and have contributed more to your child's future by giving gift cards or even cash. The amount should depend on the level of time and effort your child requires in the classroom.

For my own child's teachers, I have spent anywhere from $50-$75 for major holidays throughout the school year, and usually $100-$300 for an end of the year gift. Cash is especially nice as teachers do not get paid in the summer (their "reward" for their dedication), and most are required to take classes at their own expense just to maintain their job!

Preparation:
None! Just a little planning ahead to show their investment in your child's life matters!

Other comments or suggestions:
We really do appreciate all the little bath products, coffee mugs (even though I don't drink it), and cute note pads, BUT why not let us get what we really like, or need....like groceries to feed our families or pay an electric bill after 2 months with no salary.
