Our children receive $1.00 per year of age each week for spending money. We find this teaches them to save and budget for things they really want and a dollar amount that is age appropriate. Sometimes we even allow a loan and the borrowed money is paid back with interest. Our children are 5 yrs. and 10 yrs. We work out chores the same way. One daily chore per year of age. They feel this is fair and recognizes their increased responsibility with age.
