Time needed:
Half day

Description:
We have lived in military housing and rentals all of our married life. We have been unable to put up borders in both. However, if you use stamps or sponge paint borders, they are easily painted over before you leave. Since we are in the military we have been given a lot of "Americana" themed things, so I found some material with red and blue stripes and stars. My son and daughter share a room at this duty station and, amazingly, we were able to mix the two genders without making my son feel like it was in a girl's room and my daugter feel the opposite.

Materials:
Sponges (different shapes)
or
Stamps (in the theme you are looking for)

Paint in your chosen color

To be honest...we went to Wal-Mart in the kids crayon section and got a bag of different shaped sponges for less than $5

Instructions:
This can be as simple or as elaborate as you want to make it. What we did was make a light pencil line about six inches down from the ceiling across the room. We decided that we were just going to put the stars (we had different sizes) up as we felt. We didn't have a set pattern in mind. If you do, however, make sure that you plan it out before you start stamping. It adds a dramatic element to the room (especially after you have lived in white walls all your life!!) and for an added touch we put stars around the closet door and the light switch. This can also be done around windows if you don't have a window treatment. Don't be afraid to be creative. It doesn't take that much effort to paint over what you have done if you decide later that you don't like it!!
