Description:
Try to find a "pick your own" farm in your area. Where we live, we have one with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables almost all year round. You take a wagon through the fields and can pick whatever you like that is ripe. Prices are low since you provide the labor. What you eat while picking is free (though they encourage you not to make a meal of it).

Other comments or suggestions:
Kids learn about how plants grow, the differences between fruits and vegetables. Also, they are more likely to eat something they picked themselves, or try a new thing, than if you bought it at the grocery store.
