Best time to visit:
Mid May to October

Description:
The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is spectacular, and so much nicer than the commercial South Rim. The 45 mile drive through the Kaibab Forest to get to the North Rim is very scenic and protect the park from commercialism. If you are thinking of visiting the Grand Canyon, opt for the North side.

Other comment or suggestions:
The Kaibab Visitors Center at Jacobs Lake has a Jr. Ranger Program for kids and is a great place to stop and strech the legs on the way to the North Rim. The North Rim has several family friendly trails and it too offers a Jr. Ranger Program.
